It’s the most wonderful time of the year…” a song lyric performed by the “king” of Christmas during the 80s’ and the 90s’, Andy Williams, which continues to be a huge hit nowadays. Actually, for me it’s not only a tremendous song, it’s a departure. What exactly do I mean by that? You have figured me out already, me and my constant trips, so you know the answer, buuut I love spoils so…SPOILER ALERT!!! By departure, I obviously imply the start of a Christmassy journey in 3 either white and cold or sunny and hot destinations. Let me remind you about something very important, I am just suggesting here, you will pick up the favorite place you want to spend Christmas at, aand the people you want to bring with…
Shall we get on board for our first sparkling Christmas stop? Maybe the London Eye is lightened up or the London’s streets themselves and especially Oxford Street which every year is the first street to unveil its lights. And it goes without saying that Oxford has the glitteriest roads in London this time of the year. Hence, you should take a bus tour to explore, gaze, and feel the lights of Christmas. BUT, I have to admit…the real sparkle is hidden within the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew. If you have never heard of that place so far, the moment is now!!!
Lit up with spectacular projections and lights, the well-known after-dark Christmas event creates a pathway for its visitors through the popular Botanic Gardens. Gather around with your family, lovers, or friends and get ready to be literally illuminated by the mesmerizing installations and the so-called Christmas Kew activities. I mentioned I like spoils but I don’t feel like it right now so, I will reveal the most exciting activities that you should 100% take advantage of. While following the sparkling tunnels of light and the enlightened trees that surround them (activity 1) you will arrive at the Fire Garden where there is a spectacular display of flickering impressive flames that decorate the whole garden (activity 2). You have to keep on with the Palm House, another magnificent display of impermeable beauty is waiting for you again full of lights, Christmas songs from every generation that are followed by an intense colorful water dance from the fountains (activity 3). Since you are on a long walk crossing, the pathways of Kew you can find snacks, cookies, and hot beverages. Whether you are not a fan of them or whether you are, it’s not that big of a deal. Christmas at Kew has planned something for you too. A lovely, bright of course, dinner under and next to the dazzling lights of Kew at the Botanic Restaurant.
Another destination that you can place in your Christmas yes list is Tenerife. It doesn’t matter if you are with your partner, or family, or friends or even children…the beach is always the solution. Sunny days on the sand with a glass of cocktail for the grownups and a juice for the younger members you are going to experience a hot Christmas while diving into the sea and dancing in the rhythms of Spanish Christmas songs. Feliz navidad mis amigos!!! You are at the Las Teresitas beach with a red swimsuit, as you should honor Christmas, and you are loosening up from your stress while enjoying the incomparable sea view and exchanging gifts…ON CHRISTMAS DAY, AT THE BEACH!! Wooooow I am jealous of you right now.
Did you forget the presents? Even if you did, don’t panic because as long as you are in Tenerife you can head to the capital, Santa Cruz and do your shopping from Tenerife’s annual Christmas bazaars. Furthermore, you get to be in the heart of the sparkling lights of Santa Cruze’s streets. Because Christmas sparkle is everywhere 😉!
Inspired by another song “The white Christmas” I strongly recommend the Whitest places of all. A destination from where the whole Christmas spirit is based on…The Santa Clause’s village in Rovaniemi, in Lapland Finland. There are plenty of souvenir shops, restaurants, program service companies as well Santa’s Main post office. AAAND SPOILER ALERT 🚫🚫🚫. Santa Claus is there too!!!
A tour around Santa’s village while visiting his cottage and meeting with the reindeers is a dream come true since you were a kid. Together with Santa, you get to explore the cozy restaurants and small souvenir shops and experience some Christmas activities, which I will not spoil. HOWEVER, I am sure that I can intrigue you only with the titles and leave your imagination to unfold. Therefore, we have the following activities:
• Santa Claus Holiday Village activities
• Arctic Circle Snowmobile Park
• Santa’s Adventures
• Wild Nordic Finland
• Sunny Safari
• Bearhill Husky
I CAN’T EVEN BEGIN TO EXPLAIN HOW THRILLED I AM RIGHT NOW!! I guarantee you once again; it is a lifetime experience for all ages because we all hide the child in us.
Enough talking...let’s sign up an informal agreement which states that whichever Christmas destination you choose you will live it to the fullest with Christmas songs aaaaall the way long. And don’t forget to suit up…because after Christmas, New Year’s Eve is coming...glamorous destinations that await you in my next article…be prepared to fly again ✈️
