The term happiness is something that we all are looking for in life. All our thoughts and hard-work revolves around a worthy reward of being happy from within.
During this hard time of pandemic, one common thing that we all worked on was discovering our passion or a hobby that we like indulging in; an activity that would relax our mind and soul from all the stress surrounding our lives. Finding happiness in the moment and keeping it forever are two different things. A little more positive approach, an open mind and a will to change the perspective might just be the way to crack it.
Beneath are few simple ways to enhance your Inner Happiness and make it stay:
Love What You Do and Do What You Love
Professional life is hard, committing to a schedule is exhausting, doing the same thing every day is boring; I get it! But if you start to accept your routine, your job will be more fun and this will instantly increase your productivity. In your free-time follow your passion be it walking, dancing, art, fitness, yoga, sports, etc. It is important that we know what makes us happy. The smallest thing that makes us smile is worth the effort. Indulge in those activities that you love; be it the silliest, be it the hardest or be it the funniest. Simply let yourself off the hook and do what makes your heart happy.
2. Surround Yourself with Your Loved Ones
In all the hustle and bustle we sometimes forget what really matters. Whenever you feel low or whenever you are just not in the mood, make sure to visit someone you love. It would immediately cheer you up. Prioritise your family, friends and that someone special as they are the ones who know you, encourage you, support you and will always be there for you. If possible, plan to meet your dear ones at least once every week; this could make you feel the warmth and compassion.
3. Accept and Embrace Yourself
Fall in love with yourself. We are all flawless in our own beautiful way. I know this sounds persuasive but all of us sometimes surround ourselves with negativity and forget our beautiful selves. Appreciate yourself, your body and your thoughts! It is okay if you make a mistake, it is okay if you get angry and it is okay if you sometimes feel left out. We are bound to have a bad day to realise the value of a good day. Life will be better if we accept ourselves for who we are and we would feel happier, satisfied and more confident.
Always remember the world will see you the way you want them to see.
4. Give yourself Credit
Don’t wait for someone else to shower you with appreciation, instead express your thankfulness to you. Whenever in life you accomplish something, pat your back first for a job well done, acknowledge the time and effort you put into it and I assure you the outcome will feel better than ever. The more you admire your achievements the less are the chances of failing. Adapting to this simple trick will boost your determination.
5. Socialize
Last one and a half years has made us realise how important it is to have normal social interactions with people. The early lockdown days were a good break from all the chaos but just after a few weeks or so we all missed our daily interactions even with strangers for that matter.
A simple “Hello” with a smile creates an immediate positive vibe around you. Go out and socialise; not only with your friends or people you know but also with a stranger in the coffee shop or someone who shares the same bus route. Be open for conversation and you will be amazed to see how a conversation with just a smile and hello can change and lift up your mood.
6. Be kind and humble
A great way to stay happy is when you share your happiness. The noble act of spreading smiles just by being kind is considered the best. It is said that people may forget your name, profession or fame but they will never forget how you made them feel. Be polite with everyone because you never know what someone else is going through.
7. Express Gratitude
Be thankful for anything good or bad that happens. Good times give us happiness and bad times give us experience. Always show courtesy to people when they give or teach you something. Showing appreciation is an art that not many of us practice. Being thankful for the tiniest thing that someone does for you makes both the giver and the receiver happy.
8. Don’t hold any Grudges
Let go! Let it all go! The more we think of the past the less we live in the present. Today is a new day and a new you. It is worthier to live in the present, forget the past and wait for the future. Hate is like a heavy bag, it is better to drop it down and move forward.
A big smile takes you a long way and when added with these simple suggestions one might find the key to true happiness.
