New Year is coming, new resolutions are crossing our minds, new beginnings are heading along and new expectations are building up with only one wish for every single one of us…this year to be better, brighter and more cheerful than the previous one… Did I say brighter? OOO yes indeed!!! And how exactly we will brighten up our New Years a very good question for you to ask? WE are going to pack up our suitcases and do that one thing we do best in Vie Elyssenee…travel as much as we can and as far as it goes…

Although the unknown destination might be exciting I bet you will get more enthusiastic when you hear out the 3 TOP and BRIGHT travel destinations for celebrating New Years. 3 places that host enormous crazy parties and events resulting in engaging people and anticipating the arrival of the New Year.

NEWer Year in NEWer York

As our aim here is to lighten up your New Year’s Eve we couldn’t speak of another city than the one which is mostly known as the city of lights…New York. It doesn’t matter if you have chosen to be with your family or your significant other, or your friends you should definitely wait for the clock to turn 00:00 at the breathtaking full of lights Times Square. DO NOT miss out the most dazzling global tradition which people have been watching for years on end now from their TV screens, the Ball Drop. It’s a must!!! Thousands of people are gathered at Times Square to watch live with awe and impatience the Waterford Crystal New Year’s Eve Ball. You get to experience the New Year’s countdown while the Ball begins its descent and countless of fireworks are painting the sky…oooo I just said that and the whole view unveiling in front of my eyes gave me goosebumps…Just imagine being present at this magnificent ritual and seeing it through in all its glory, grandeur and sublime…

But my friends, to top it all we need some food and drinks, right? And that is why New York is one of the best places to celebrate New Year’s Eve. If the first wish for the year to come is to sparkle, where else can you spread your spark besides taking a luxury dinner cruise on a yacht at the Staten Island. You’ll be wearing your glamorous outfit, sipping from a glass of champagne and undeniably enjoying the picturesque views of the fireworks next to your partner. For a naughtier night I assume you are already familiar with the most famous clubs next to Times Square. If not, there’s a tip: DO NOT LEAVE NEW YORK UNLESS YOU VISIT the Paradise Club, the INKwell club and the Rum House!!! Dance up all night and loosen up your muscles at the wildest parties New York can offer.

Dive into the New Year

We usually associate New Year’s Eve with the cold and snowy weather of December…BUT who can forbid us to escape from a freezing “goodbye” to the old year and visit the Copacabana Beach Party in Rio de Janeiro. A lot of people from every part of the country are gathered alongside the coast of Copacabana waiting for the marvelous fireworks to emerge in the sky when the clock strikes 00:00. In addition to the traditional countdown, locals have their own New Year’s tradition which is quite interesting and I can say pretty funny. People who attend the Copacabana Beach Party have to jump 7 waves and make seven wishes. There is not a better combination than wishing for anything you desire and having a night dive into the sea on the first day of the New Year. Another ritual regarding wishes for the upcoming year is the floating candles and flowers that people offer at midnight to the Goddess of the ocean, Lemanjá. Some general knowledge while having fun with ample food and a wide variety of beverages is always worth it.

For you guys that are not huge fans of parties, I recommend booking a beachfront restaurant. Let’s give you some options to choose from: Maxim’s Rio, Gosto de Mar, Quiosque Nativoo, etc. Get lost in the rhythm of the party, the breathtaking view of the colorful fireworks and enjoy excellent sea-food straight from the ocean. This is a command not a recommendation.

Let it cold, let it cold, let it cold

I believe that it is about time to cool it up, literally, and travel to a country that is known for its snowy and freezing days…Aaaaaustriaaaa!!! Austria’s ski resorts have been for many years now the perfect destination for spending New Year’s Eve under the snowflakes with your family. Since 1955 a small town in Austria, Kitzbühel, rings in the New Year with a lovely tradition locals and visitors can’t resist.

On the first day of the year 01.01 there is a spectacular display of fireworks and torchlights as you expected…but I bet you didn’t consider that Armin Lukasser, the world’s pyrotechnics champion is behind the scene! Ooo no I am not done already! The magnificent Kitzbühel sets up every year a ski show with its professional ski riders along with the best ones from Kitzbühel’s high school. This particular ski show includes an extreme air jump through an enormous ring of fire following up with a second impressive parade of fireworks. I must say that such a stunning tradition is worth seeing. Come on you didn’t see that coming I am sure!!

I personally can’t choose only one destination for New Years. I wish there was a way of teleportation from one place to the other but unfortunately you got to pick only one. What about one more bet? I can see you visiting all three of them every following year and I am certain you will have the time of your life. BIG TIME!
