Oh my! What a day! I woke up feeling fresh, motivated and productive. I went for a run, completed all my work blah, blah, blah...


Wow! Isn’t that ideal! Don’t we all want that perfect day?!


As Mr. Lemony Snicket rightly said in Series of Unfortunate Events,

“Morning is an important time of day; because how you spend your morning can often tell you what kind of day you are going to have.”



Here are the Top 3 things that you need to stop doing in the morning:


  1. Staying long in the bed after waking up.


Been there done that; Those multiple snoozes, fidgeting with our gadgets, those social media updates, endless swiping on instagram reels, going late to bed, etc. There are just too many things which end up affecting our precious morning. A lazy morning results in a lazy day. After waking up lying around in bed for any reason makes us feel exhausted and sleepy throughout the day.


  • Tricks to avoid this:


A good night sleep is the key to a fresh morning. Ignore your phone at least 30 minutes before dozing off and instead indulge yourself in some relaxing meditation and a little aroma therapy by using natural oils like the one below! Seriously. It works wonders! This will help you get a calm sleep and a no-snooze morning. A good warm cup of lavender or chamomile tea reduces inflammation and anxiety which helps in getting relaxed sleep.







  1. Planning at the last minute.


Oh, tell me about it! I know exactly this one as I never believed in it. I always used to make impromptu decisions and make plans that would end up in some sort of mess and in this process I ended up getting confused which led to being late and unorganised. When responsibilities grew, I realised the value of planning and how effective it could be. Getting through the day is a lot easier when you are organized and planned for the forthcoming events.


  • Tricks to avoid this:



Maintain a journal just like the one below, plan your daily tasks and if possible write daily to do lists!! This helps reinforce the daily accomplishments and reduce the mental stress. It also increases the odds of meeting all our goals. Do not forget to plan your outfit for the day the previous night. This increases the excitement and results in motivation.








  1. Skipping Breakfast


I don’t understand why people miss out on meals in the first place. Breakfast is considered to be the most important meal of the day. It improves our energy levels, ability to concentrate, helps in controlling weight...I could go on and on about the benefits. But this doesn’t mean consuming a lot of carbohydrates or sugar in the morning; it could end up in a sugar high that may leave you feeling lousy and drowsy.


  • Tricks to avoid this:

A balanced good meal never hurt anyone and nowadays almost in every social media platform you have access to all the necessary tips and less time consuming hacks to prepare your meal. You can also pre-plan your weekly breakfast meals and post-it on your refrigerator. This will help avoid that extra stress in the morning of deciding what to cook.




These are the morning dilemmas that almost all of us can relate to and would like taking that extra initiative to improvise. Trying out these few simple tricks could help you feel the difference.
